EMPLOYEE PROFIT SHARING PLAN TRUST

An efficient way of allocating profits from a corporation to the owners of the corporation without the need to remit payroll taxes. Can also be used as an income splitting tool.

The federal government plans to review the existing rules relating to Employees Profit Sharing Plans to ensure that employers are using these plans for their intended purpose, rather than, for example, to direct profit participation to family members. Before proceeding with any changes, the government will consult with the tax community and businesses. Continued use of these plans for income splitting should now consider this review by the government.
